Dental Health Week

Aug

The Australia Dental Association runs Dental Health Week once a year to help promote and encourage the importance of dental health. This year Dental Health Week is running from the 7th-13th of August and the theme for this year is Oral Health For Busy Lives.

At DBay Dental we love to encourage our patient’s that no matter how busy they are, it is possible to keep your teeth in top shape and well maintained.

Four quick, simple and important steps to fit into your busy routine are:

  1. Brush twice daily  – brushing is a key step in maintaining good oral hygiene. We recommend brushing twice a day (morning and evening) with a soft toothbrush and to use a fluoridated toothpaste.
  2. Use floss at least once a day – along with brushing, flossing is another important step to maintaining a healthy mouth. Flossing helps to clean in between the tight spaces of your teeth – the space that your toothbrush misses. If these areas are missed this can lead to cavities in between your teeth.
  3. Healthy diet – A healthy diet is always recommended to maintain good oral health. This can be done by limiting the amount of sugary drinks and food that is consumed regularly and saving these as treat items. We understand that this can be difficult, so we suggest always drinking or rinsing your mouth out with water after these items are consumed.
  4. Visit the dentist – general check-ups are a great way to stay on top of your oral health. We recommend visiting your dentist every 6 months for a routine exam and clean. These appointments are important as this gives the dentists the chance to make sure your mouth is in great shape and identify any problems that may occur early on.

Dental Health Week is a great reminder to all of our patients how easy and important it is to maintain good oral hygiene.
