You might be forgiven for thinking the Work Health and Safety Committee at DBay Dental were having too much fun at the Infection Control Update 2016 in Brisbane recently. Of course we were hamming it up for the camera during the lunch break on the day!  As one astute observer commented, “The big take home message from today is obviously to wash hands thoroughly after peeling all those prawns!”

Keeping you safe
All joking aside, it was an intensive course focusing on keeping our patients, staff and visitors to the practice safe from the transmission of bacteria, viruses and fungi. This covers the spread of ‘germs’ from one patient to another patient, from dental practitioner and dental staff to patients, and from patients to dental practitioner or other staff.

We follow very strict guidelines and protocols in order to keep you (and us) safe, and it’s important that we keep absolutely up-to-date with the latest information in this area. Hence the photo of us toughing it out at the course!

Continuing Professional Development
Did you know that Dentists are required to undertake 60 hours of Continuing Professional Development (or additional study) every three years?  This ensures that they are keeping their knowledge and skills in line with the latest developments in dentistry and oral health care.  And if that means eating prawns and oysters for lunch then that’s what we’ll do to keep everyone safe.
