Australian Dental Association with D Bay Dental are celebrating Oral Health Week!
Oral Health Week runs from the 2nd to the 8th of August. This year the focus is on the importance of preventive oral health care.
At DBay Dental we love to encourage our patients the importance of preventive oral health, to lower the risks of gum disease, tooth decay & more serious dental problems.
4 key messages for good oral health:
1- Brushing twice a day- Brushing is a key step in maintaining good oral hygiene. The Australian Dental Association recommends brushing twice a day (Morning & Night) with a soft toothbrush with a fluoride toothpaste.
2- Floss & the use of interdental brushes- Along with brushing, flossing is another important step to maintaining a healthy mouth. Flossing &/ or the use of interdental brushes helps to clean in between the tight spaces of the teeth where the toothbrush misses. The use of these is essential for preventing cavities in between your teeth.
3- Eating a healthy, balanced diet- A healthy, balanced diet is always recommended oral health. This can be done by limiting the amount of sugary drinks food that is consumed regularly. We understand this can be a challenge, so we suggest making them an occasional treat & rinsing your mouth out with water after these have been consumed.
4- Visit us at DBay Dental- We recommend visiting your dentist every 6 months for your routine exam & clean. These appointments are important as this gives the dentist the chance to make sure your mouth is in great shape and identify any problems that may occur early.
Oral Health week is a great reminder to all of our patients how easy & important it is to maintain good oral hygiene.
